Recent research found that patients diagnosed with stable coronary artery disease should try to avoid conditions that could lead to anxiety and depression because these mental stresses could trigger cardiac events.

Experts say that during the research they found that cardiac patients are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety disorder than other people and these mental disorders can be predictors for cardiac diseases. Researchers examined patients who suffer from heart disease and followed their condition in the next two years. Results showed that about 4% showed signs of depression and about 5% showed signs of anxiety. They all had increased risk of developing major coronary problems. Of these mental conditions major risk was for the patients diagnosed with depression disorder.

Important thing of this study is that now the doctors know that depression and anxiety represent markers of increased cardiac risk and it’s very important that patients who suffer from these conditions receive the best care in order to prevent some major cardiac disorders and psychiatric conditions as well.
