One of the side effects that are likely to occur due to methotrexate is hair loss. It may also cause reddening of the skin. I think that it would be risky for you to perm your hair, when it is about esthetic.
Methotrexate inhibits cell proliferation, and that makes root of the hair weak. This hair loss is temporary and normal hair growth returns after the treatment. It is not unusual that hair prematurely get grey. In fact, it does not have to mean that perming would harm you more, but you didn’t mention how you have reacted on therapy. All that can happen to you is to lose more hair, so if you decide to perm your hair, choose the mild preparation. |
