Minor vaginal bleeding and cramps

My question is, about 5 days after my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex (I know, not the smartest of things -- we use the pullout method) I had slight vaginal spotting. By slight I mean only happened once when I went to the bathroom and wiped. I was going to start the pill and was going to do the first day start so I took a pill when I saw the blood. It didn't continue after that so I stopped taking the pill after three days because I figured it was a false alarm... could this have been implantation bleeding and or a failed implantation??

PLEASE HELP! Am supposed to get my period now and am experiencing all the symptoms but still no bleeding... should I take a pregnancy test?!
