Hi, I am 33 years old, and I have a huge problem with womb bleeding. My gynecologist told me that I have two options, to have a hysterectomy, or to try with some contraceptive pills, like mirena. I can’t make up my mind, I know too little about these things. Any suggestions?

Hello, I used mirena because I had a heavy bleeding. It really helped me by bringing my hormone levels to normal. I never even considered hysterectomy. However, you might have completely different problem, and need another treatment. Mirena releases constant low dosages of progestogen directly into the uterus, and because of that, it can replace hysterectomy in 60% of cases. My opinion is that you should use mirena if your bleeding is caused by hormonal disorder, and have hysterectomy if you have fibroids or something like that. Don’t forget that you won’t be able to have kids ever again if you decide for hysterectomy. However, your health is most important, and it should be your priority. |
