Missed miscarriage at 5 weeks - minimal bleeding still 5 weeks later

I found out during week 9 that I miscarried. I have had 2 days of bleeding - once during week 6 for 1 day and once during week 9 for one day. In between there has been spotting with some cramping but not much else has been happening. I am not sure what to do! All my pregnancy symptoms are gone except for nausea that started during week 8! My doctor says to wait 3 weeks (til what would have been week 12) before going back to see him for a DNC. Just seems strange that nothing is happening - any suggestions?
