My 2 month old son has had infrequent mucousy stools for about three weeks. Not to get too graphic, but they occur about every 2-3 days, range in color from an orangish yellow to green and are very slimy in consistency.

My 2 1/2 year old had a dairy/ egg/ peanut allergy that was diagnosed when he was about 2 months old. He had frequent bloody stools along with fussiness, eczema.

My two month old does not have any other symptoms of a dairy allergy aside from the mucousy stools; however, given our history, I have eliminated dairy from my diet for the past week. There has been no change in his stool since the elimination of dairy. Should I continue the elimination diet? Is there any other cause of mucous in an infant's stool?

Did you ever find out what was causing your infant's mucusy stools? My 5 month old has the same problem and I have tried the dairy free diet with no change as well.

I was hoping to find some useful information here. My daughter has the mucosy stool too. I have eliminated dairy and soy for three weeks now and have not seen a change in her stool, however her eczema is much better. Did either of you find out anything useful?
