Hello, I am 16 year old and I am pregnant. I can tell anyone I know about this. I am very scared. I know I need to see a doctor, but what if he calls my parents? Must doctors keep things confidential? I don’t want this baby. It was mistake.

If you're pregnant and you go to a doctor without your parents I don't think they take you seriously. However, I think that if a girl wants to have an abortion and she's underage, I think as long as she's mature enough to make that decision, then she should be allowed to. I don’t know if doctor must keep thing confidential…I guess he should. I think confidential advice should be available when you're in your teens. We like to deny we need help, but everyone needs someone to talk to.

REGULAR doctors do not do abortions, you would need an abortion clinic. Abortion is NOT FREE, so soemone would need to help you pay for it.
YOU DO NOT NEED PARNETAL CONSENT for an abortion, but you do need a JUDICIAL BYPASS. AN aboriton clinic can help you with this.
IF you would like to know about what kinds of clinics are near you..

Doctors are required by law (HIPPA) to maintain patient confidentiality. Anything that you discuss with your physician remains between you two. The bottom line is if you don't want your parents to be involved, they don't have to be. Most OB-GYN's and Family Practice physicians will NOT do an abortion. For this, you will have to be referred onto another site/clinic. Some MD's do not feel comfortable with this sort of a referral, so depending on what you choose, the internet should have some info on some options for you.
From my understanding, abortion clinics are very good about patient confidentiality as well. It's a healthcare provider's job to take you seriously. By law, they have to. If your intentions are that this remains a private matter, discuss that with the physician. You may feel like you're the only person in the world that this has happened to, but believe me - you're not alone. It happens to a lot of people. Good luck dear. |
