Hello all. I am 28 years old. I would appreciate any help with the problem I have. Not long ago I woke to my right arm twitching. It even woke up my husband!!! Twitching lasted some 30 – 40 seconds and I was really scared. It has also curled up a bit as this happened. I still felt like I was asleep and couldn't completely wake up. I felt dizzy and afterwards started to feel pins and needles over my whole body. After some 10 minutes I finally got back to normal. Is it possible this was due some sort of a panic attack in my sleep or dehydratation? Anybody with similar experiences or advice???

How many times did this happen to you? If it only happened this once I don’t think it is something serious. My guess is that you fell asleep badly, meaning you might have been sleeping on that hand. In such cases blood circulation is reduced and it can cause sensation of needles and pins, severe pain and hand dumbness and twitching. I personally experienced the same thing several times – in some cases I couldn’t move that hand (leg) and I had to use another to make any movement. Those sensations usually last until blood returns to it’s normal flow and that can take from 1 to 15 minutes, depending on many factors. Of course, that is only one explanation. Cause can be more neurological. So, my suggestion is – if you experience anything like that again, see your doc; if not, there’s nothing to worry about.
