Hi. My five years old daughter complains on hearing voices. I fear she might have some sort of mental disorder. Yesterday she told me these voices are telling her to do bad things. I am really worried. I don`t know what to do. Please help.

Hi. Hearing voices, seeing and feeling things that are not actually real, these are all signs of schizophrenia. Do you have any relative with schizophrenia? Hearing voices is a form of psychosis. However, it could`ve been caused by stress. Psychotic episodes can occur in everybody`s life. Your daughter is too young to be diagnosed with schizophrenia, but there are some cases of children that age diagnosed with that disorder. Treatment includes meds.

Your daughter knows whether or not she is actually hearing voices by five years old. I think that you should not ignore her, but first start with her primary care physician to see if they can refer you to a pediatric mental health doctor that can help. I hope you can find the right help for your daughter.

well, she is, five years old, and i read books on a physic, her name is sylvia browne, and she has said that young children do, hear voices. like, it could be a grandfather, or someone that has lived on the land years ago.

Some of the replies here aren't very helpful!

It definately seems like some kind of mental disorder and if you take her to see someone like a GP they will be able to advise you further.

This is nothing to be ashamed off but your daughter should get help as soon as possible, good luck.

Does you daughter have much friends??
might be a little old but if she dont have much friends she could just be making up these voices- imaginary "friends" even.
And her saying that there telling her to do bad things could just be some underlying anger and loneliness that just presents itself through these voices.??

what are the voices saying?
Is she scared of them?
If she is scared and shes acting on these voices then you probably should go get her checked out.
