My father is diagnosed with dementia ? how should I deal with it?

Hello, my father is 67 years old and I am afraid that he is slowly slipping away from me. He has been diagnosed with dementia and I am afraid that I just don’t know how to deal with it. I can’t help him, and sometimes I feel as if I am the one who needs help. What can I do? Is there anything I can do?

Well, I am sorry that you have to go through all of this. It is clearly that this is all very disturbing for you. Still, you have to be strong and help your father in any possible way, although it is easier said than done. You can only give him your support and love and let’s hope he will understand that. As for you, you could try with some group therapy session, seeing and talking with people that are in similar trouble is always helpful.
