My hands and fingers sometimes go numb

I am experiencing sometimes numbness in one hand. It is in two fingers and down the side of the hand. It comes and goes and is usually most noticeable first thing in the morning, but there is no pain or pins and needles. On one occasion it occurred in both hands at the same time. Why my hand and fingers sometimes go numb?

It is possible that this is caused by pressure on a nerve that comes down your arm - it's the radial nerve. We know about this nerve usually through talking about hurting our ‘funny bone’. You know the feeling you get if you knock a certain point on your elbow and the numb pain spreads right down into your hand. The fact this is present in the morning might mean that you have something called ‘carpal tunnel syndrome’. It is caused by a build up fluid in the wrist overnight. A clue that this is the cause will be that the numb feeling goes away when you shake your hand and flex your fingers, but If it is bothering you much a lot you should see your GP and get a proper diagnosis.

I have this problem a lot. Sometimes my hands go numb while i am driving. or sometimes when i am just sitting. But big time when i am asleep. I wake up with so much pain in my hands cuz they have been so numb for so long. The only thing that helps is if i dangle my arm off the bedside and shake my wrist.

Is my problem different then the others that are experiencing numbness?
