Is a gradual weight loss of approx. 10 lbs over a 3 month period normal for patients experiencing a Myasthenia Gravis flair of symptoms? No severe problems with swallowing and no change in normal diet are present.

Well, most of Myasthenia Gravis patients experience weight loss due to swallowing and chewing problems but the disease also makes patients feel so fatigue that they totally lsoe interest in food and appetite.
This is why MG patients need to make sure they take good foods and fluids, so that they could recover and cope with treatments.
You may use some of the tips regarding eating and meals!
Eating smaller and more frequent meals is recommendable because of the fatigue. Since these portions are smaller, you should make sure that they are nutritious.

It is a very good idea to put margarine on vegetables, potatoes, to add sugar to your desserts, use double strength milk and drink at least a pint a day,

If you do experience problems with chewing and swallowing, make your meals as soft as possible. You can mash potatoes (do you know the song from the “dirty dancing”), mash vegetables, poach fish, etc

You could also try to tempt your appetite and add sauces like cheese or parsley sauces to go with vegetables, Worcester sauce, yogurt to fruit puree.
Some of these little tips could make you prevent from losing weight.
