| Hi, I am 26 years old and I am working as waitress in local club. My nails are pretty much damaged because they are very often in water and I would like to do something about it. They are fragile and they lost their elasticity. Does someone know what can I do to repair my nails? |

| Hi, I also had problems with my nails. First you have to see if your nails are infected with some fungal infection. If their surface is clear and there is no some changes in their shape they would be all right. You may take vitamins E, B and A. They will help your nails to look better. Also it would be good to wear some gloves which will protect them from water and moisture. |

I agree for the most part with the last post, especially the part about wearing gloves when working with chemicals and/or water. Water is a chemical which will damage your nails quickly when they are not protected.
Another thing you can do is to use a nail strengthener. I like a product called Nail Tek ll. This is made especially for soft, peeling nails. But will help with other nail problems too. Another good one is made by Nailtique. They make a few different strengtheners. But, the Nail Tek is about half the price, but just as good of a product. If you want to use either, just apply two coats of the product, then apply one coat every other day after that. After a week, remove with a non-acetone polish remover - it has less of a drying effect than acetone, then start over. After a few weeks you should begin to notice the difference it will make.
One other thing is to use a good quality cuticle oil. My first choice is Creative Nail Design's 'Solar Oil,' but there are several good ones on the market. Either way, apply the cuticle oil to your cuticle area, and massage into your cuticles and also your nails. This will make them healthy again, and continued use will keep them that way. Apply 2-3 times a day, every day.
Hope this helps! |
