I am a 20 year old female, soon to be 21. I have been suffering from this unkown allergy for almost four years now. Every year attacks just seem to become more intense than the last. It all starting with waking up in the middle of the night with swollen lips and unable to breathe properly. Thought nothing of it until more symptoms would start happening. I would start cramping all over in my joints, almost going paralyzed from the pain. The pain almost feels like when your foot or hand is sleeping or a million needles are poking me, but lasts much longer. It gets so intense I cramp up and im unable to move. My stomach would soon follow with cramping after that. Now its almost unstopable, its like one thing happens after the next and you just have to let nature take its course. I learnt that staying calm usually helps from not progressing forward to the use of an epi-pen. I have to carry an epi-pen on hand at all times because my throat may start to get tight on me.
I have been to a couple allregy specialists many times, still unable to find something that I am allergic to. I have also done some research in my family, and unable to come up with any answers. I wonder why just out of the blue at the age of 17 im diagnosed with Idiopathic Angeodema. Im sick of always going to the hospital, and no one is able to tell me anything different. I get tests after tests and its always "sorry, no anwers this time!" can anyone else relate to this stress im going through? I thought it would be helpful if I would be able to talk to someone who is going through the same thing. I just feel like a ticking time bomb some days; its not a good feeling at all. I know that staying calm tends to help out alot when a reaction comes along, at least for the most part. When I get my cramps I tend to have a warm shower or bath just to get the blood moving again and warm me up, it usually helps as well. Is there anything else that can be done?
