Need some information about arthocentesis. Please help

Hi. I’m scheduled for arthocentesis and I’m very scared. I have never had any health problems and now I have to take a surgery!!! Is there anybody here who had it?? I would like to hear your experiences, just to know what to except… Thanks a lot.

I had arthcentesis in November. Just as you, I really did not know much about the procedure or it’s outcome. To be honest, I was quite surprised with my recovery as it was very uncomforatble. For few weeks I could not open my mouth more than an 10 – 15 mm. Then my jaw started locking shut causing even more headaches than I even got before I had the arthocentesis. I had to see my doc again (and a surgeon) and they both feel that the next step for me is arhroscopic surgery. So, for me it was not very successful – I hope you’ll have better experience.
