Neurontin in bipolars

My son is suffering from bipolar disorder. He had to be hospitalized. He is in one private clinic. The doctors monitor his condition all the time. He is only 22 years old. Now they want to try different treatment. They want to include drug called neurontin. Can you tell me about influence of neurontin on bipolars?

This drug can be effective in treatment of bipolar disorders. It can be more effective in younger persons, those with shorter duration of illness and initial body weight. It is potentially useful in the adjunctive treatment of bipolar mixed states. Neurontin are especially effective if it is related to depressive symptomatology.
