New study found interesting fact that short sleep time can be related to risk from obesity in patients with chronicle medical diagnosis. Researchers conducted a study which involved about 200 patients and questioned their sleep habits, lifestyle and medical diagnosis. Results showed that people who sleep less than seven hours per day have increased risk of obesity when compared to people who sleep eight to nine hours every day. It was also discovered that women who sleep shorter or longer than normal are more likely to be obese.

Study didn’t find this correlation between sleeping and obesity in men. Some other factors that are linked to obesity in women included young age, non smoking, drinking, hypertension, diabetes and sleep apnea. Study found that short sleep times is related to obesity in adult persons with chronic medical problems and also the fact that chronic diseases do not relate to this correlation between short sleep and obesity.

Researchers advise patients to sleep eight to nine hours to reduce risk of obesity. More research needs to be done in order to prove that sleep hygiene is related to obesity but what is already found is the fact that there’s a strong link between obstructive sleep apnea and weight gain. As people gain weight their neck becomes thicker and that increases level of fat in the back of the throat causing blocked airways and OSA. It was already found that people who suffer from OSA have high blood pressure and that all comes from obesity.
