My mom suffers from severe migraine. She has been taking Nortriptyline, Periactin, and Amitriptyline to treat the headaches, but they aren't working. I am not sure if she should take them all together, maybe that’ her mistake. Anyway I would like to know is there any effective medication to treat migraines beside Nortriptyline, Periactin, and Amitriptyline?

I didn’t use Nortriptyline, Periactin, and Amitriptyline, but I did use Imitrex. Imitrex is a prescription medicine for the acute treatment of migraine attacks, with or without aura, in adults. She should consult doctor before she change her therapy and she should not use imitrex if she has certain types of heart disease, a history of stroke or TIAs, peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud syndrome, or blood pressure that is uncontrolled. However, I ma satisfied with this drug, but it is only for migraines you should know.
