My grandaughter is allergic to nuts: pecans, peanuts, etc. Even the dried leaves of the pecan tree cause a rash.

Is nutmeg a nut and does it cause allergic reactions?

I HAVE DEVELOPED AN ALLERGY TO FALLEN PECAN TREE LEAVES. I MULCH THEM WITH A RIDING LAWNMOWER, INHALE THE DUST, AND BECOME QUITE ILL WITHIN 24 HOURS, SYMPTONS LAST ABOUT A WEEK.

I suspect I am allergic to nutmeg, because any time I consume it my face swells and I get a rash all over. I am not, however, allergic to tree nuts. From my reading, nutmeg allergies are very rare.
