Odd menstral symptoms-brown discharge?

Hi
I am 21 years old and am currently using Ortho Cyclen. I have just been switched to this in July from Alesse and I am a perfect user. For the last two months I have been experiencing abnormal symptoms. Two weeks before last months period I experience frequent urination with a foul smell and abdominal inflammation around my belly button area with pain on the right side under my ribs then I received my period on the exact day it always comes and it lasted the same amount of time but it was a little lighter than previous. This month the frequency of urination continued on and off but with out the smell. I received my period this month yesterday the exact day and time it always comes with cramps like usual; however it started off brown and turned blood red not until later last evening? I'm so confused can someone please help me wth an explanation of this!!?!?
