I am taking Loestrin, however I was hospitalized with a staph infection and was given vancomycin, clendomycin and cipromycin. Then I was sent home taking bactrum for 2 weeks. Two weeks after stopping the antibiotics, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend while I was on my period.
Now...a week and a half later, I'm exhibiting signs of pregnancy. Sore breasts, fatigue, light brown spotting (only when I wipe after urination). I also have discharge and my urine has a slight "off" oder. As well as twinges in my lower abdomen.
Does this sound like pregnancy? I've taken several hpc's...all negative (knock on wood!!)
Any help would be appreciated!!

| First of all.. I'm sure you know that antibiotics weaken the effectiveness of your birth control. with that said. i'm gonna take a stab and say your probably not pregnant. antibiotics also cause yeast infections.. they can mess up your periods due to the conflict with b.c. see a dr. thats the best advice i can give you. good luck! |

Your sudden infection is just what happened to me! I had unprotected sex during my period - rarely, RARELY don't use a condom - and 3 days later had the sudden onset of intense pain, blood, etc. I drank a lot of water, took garlic, and drank Cranberry juice (sure it was at least partly urinary). It went away for a day, then hit back just as suddenly a day later. That time I headed over to the doctor. Kidney infection. Testing later showed e.coli was the culprit. In fact, I found your original post looking for confirmation that the intense fatigue I've had the last couple days is from the ABX they've had me on.

I was so relieved to read this as I was on antibiotics for tonsilitis about 4-5 weeks ago. 2 weeks later I have unprotected sex (with no condom) with my boyfriend, I was on my period just the week before. Ever sicne I have been suffering from major discharge leakage, so much so I have had myself convinced I could be pregnant. The discharge is predominantly clear but sometimes dries yellow. No major smell but I have a doctors appointment tonight at 330., I am scared I have to admit as I knwo I am not ready for a child as I want my career and I am travelling for 6 nd a half weeks in summer.
Thank you though as this message has relieved some of the panicking. |
