My girlfriend has been on various types of the pill for about 8 yrs now, and we have been together for 2.

About 12 days before her period started she had light spotting...and told me that it was more of a brownish "old blood" type. However, it increased in its heaviness for about a week or so straight and has lightened up slightly...Now she is supposed to get her period in the next few days, but is concerned that this could be implantation bleeding.

I know the pill isnt 100% safe to guard against pregnancy, but I was hoping that the timeline could help somebody offer some insight or suggestions.

She always has her period on schedule, rarely any more than a day or two late, and never bleeds in between cycles. But this time she began bleeding almost 2 weeks before her period was supposed to start!

Any help is MUCH MUCH appreciated!

I am having the very same exact thing! 12 days before my period is to start, I started having the brown spotting. I'ts been 5 days for me now. I was told it's just a break through from my pills. I've been on it for 1 1/2 years now. That's what I'm told anyways. So I hope that helps you some!
