A new study conducted in several countries shows us how spread domestic violence is. It also reveals that many women are too scared to stand out as they have no one to turn to. Many countries don’t have proper laws to protect the abused women or consider this a family matter. In return, women who are being abused suffer from effects of being choked, hit with the fists, dragged, and burned even during their pregnancies.
Most of the women are attacked by their partners.
The study also reveals that abused women suffer more than just immediate injuries. They are more prone to long-term health damage like poor general health, being suicidal, having more miscarriages and abortions and metal illnesses.
What is worse, this cycle is often repeated from one generation to the next. A child that is brought up in an environment where there is domestic violence accepts this as normal and continues to practice it. |
