Optic neuritis???

My mother has problems with the vision in her left eye. She say that she see rather blur vision on that eye. Also she has noticed that she don’t see colors on the left eye. After a visit to ophthalmologist she said that she has the optic neuritis and that she has to go to a hospital! Can you tell me something about the optic neuritis?

Don’t be afraid. It seems that your mum has gone to a doctor on time. The optic neuritis is very dangerous illness and can cause the loss of vision. It is inflammation with swelling and possible destruction of the myelin sheath that covers the optical nerve. It is treated with corticosteroids intravenously and that is probably why your mother has to go to the hospital.
