I noticed 2 days ago after stopping my period, a bump located on my LABIA MAJOR, it has no abnormal color, no discharge, no itching. i tried to squeeze it but I notice that by squeezing it, i had made it larger and it got more painful. Now it looks like a mass thing, it feels like a small ball on my labia! what can it be?, please help!!!!! Sad

This seems to be pretty common, as I have one as well. It worries me a bit, I'm still a virgin but only in the very technical sense. So I'm still concerned about STDs, but I'm thinking mine is just a sebaceous cyst. It is pretty small, white, and feels like a pimple with a hard center under the skin. It is closer to the outside of my labia majora, and it's been there for a couple of months. Do I need to see a gynecologist for this, or will it go away on its own?

Do you shave there? It sounds like it may be an ingrown hair. I could be wrong, but it kind of sounds like one by the way you described it. Yeah, and squeezing it will only tend to make matters worse, as you found out! In the case of an ingrown hair, try soaking a small cloth like a washrag with warm water, then applying it to the area for about ten minutes, 2 or 3 times a day. In a few days - if it is a hair - you should be able to see it on the surface of the skin. The warmth helps to draw it out. At that time, you can then sterilize a pair of pointed tip tweezers, and gently remove it. Make sure you cleanse the area with rubbing alcohol before, and after you do this. And just be careful if you try this. Not only can it be a bit painful, but it may damage the skin in the area if not done properly. Just be slow and gentle and you should be fine.
If its not a hair, I'm not sure what to tell you. Hope this helps.

I have the same thing and im really worried about it. My boyfriend and i have been together for over a year and this has happened twice to me now, but the weird thing is that i get it before during or after my period, and my boyfriend has never had anything that resembles this or anything, so im thinking it cant be an STD or anything (esp since we have both been tested, and everything came back negative) but it still worries me.. any ideas??

I have one, too. This site is the first one I came to. I was freaking out, because I'm pregnant, but it appears to be nothing to worry about. It looks like it's called Bartholin’s abscess. It seems to be some sort of infected gland just out side of the vaginal opening. The site I read says to soak it in warm/hottish water four times a day and it may open up and drain itself. If it doesn't go away, go to a doctor and they can, with local anesthesia, cut and drain it. If it's left untreated it can become a bad infection, so take care of it. Research, though... look into it more.

They said it CAN be caused by gonorrhea or possibly by bad hygeine. One site even suggested scented soaps might be the culprit.

Anyway, good luck getting rid of it. I'm going to soak now. This thing hurts and my husband is way freaked out... haha.

PostPosted: 03/27/08 - 07:42    Post subject: I'm going with the pimple theory Vote now! Reply with quote

Going by the first couple post's descriptions I will have to say it is a pimple as well. I wax the area and tend to get these once in a while. Every time I get them I freak out and think it is something serious (even though I am engaged to my fiancee and we have been together for 5 years). The pimple or ingrown hair takes a while to surface so you will probably have to wait a few days or even a week to be able to pop the pimple or get the hair out comfortably. If after a week you are seeing no signs of a white head I would probably go to your doctor.

A soak sounds like a good thing to start with.

You need to schedule a visit to a doctor or GYN to get an exam.
If these things keep showing up, you need to nail the cause down.

Better hygene and some epson salts baths might help in the meantime.

Go schedule a visit to the clinic and then report back here with the results.
We're all pulling for you.

PS: For the pregnant poster above, I'd run, not walk to my OBGYN to get this checked out. I wouldn't mess around with anything no matter how small when it comes to a pregnancy. Get checked out now. and get it cured!

Yah I have something kinda similar to this, I have staph on my right groin and tend to get little break outs of staph on my legs but lately it's been around my groin area and this time the staph got worse than usual and I went to soak in a hot tub of salt water and since then thats when i noticed 3 bumps on my labia and at first there was only 1 that I noticed and it really itched, when I went to see why I was so itchy it started hurting and got itchier.
After a day or 2, I noticed that i had started my period and noticed that i had 3 bumps total and they got a little bigger and started hurting a lot. the color is red/ skin color, no discharge, no head on them. Hopefully some one can give me some info about what it is and how I can take care of it....

I'd still schedule a follow up with your OBGYN to get checked out.
They're much more familiar with all things female than I am.

Get a routine check and be sure to bring up your experience so that it gets addressed.
