Hmmm, I think online info will tell you that she is probably wrong on that and may be saying 50% of all women to make you feel better.
HPV can give you warts or herpe like sores. However a lot of people naturally fight this off so sypmtoms dont appear. I readon Centre For Disease Control website that HPV clears itself out of your system in 2 years, so as long as you dont sleep around and recatch it and you get any sores and warts treated as they are VERY contagious and can cause transmission of the disease again... then you should both settle down and clear the virus in 2 years. Or atleast thats the way I read it. For people with recurring cases there are drugs to helpo the immune system deal with it but they may have side effects as they are made from human blood and can introduce nasties into your system (they say they screen as best they can so this wont happen but hey, doesnt sound like a guarantee of no worries of use of these drugs such as Antiferon N, I think it was). |

Wow, I can't believe I stumbled on this site. I hv bn hvg problems with burning, itching genitals & ab pain for the last 23yrs. My dh & I finally found a docs in NYC & DC to help us. For one thing, the symptoms u are hvg are not in your head...they are REAL! I sympathize & have compassion for ALL of you. It got worse and worse over the yrs, then moved up into my abdominal area...pain. We ended up having major infertility issues when we want to start trying to have children.
We finally found Dr. Attila Toth, NYC via miracle from God & he did a cervical swab/uterine biopsy on me & urethral swab/semen culture on my dh & found that we had 7 pathogens between the both of us causing the problems. He tested for CT, Gonno, Trich, Mycoplasm, Yeast, Aerobes & Anaeorbes. My dh had a prostate ultrasound and DT found lots of scar tissue. He is so compassionate, caring, personable and highly skilled doctor. Very much thinks "out of the box". He specializes in pathology & does do phone consults. Will respond to personal emails quickly. He is out of network, but with a referral on an Rx slip frm my PCP, my ins pd in-network. It sure was worth the time & drive. We made a vacation out of the trip to NYC.
A. Toth, M.D.

****************
We ended up hvg to go thru a 10 day IV out to NYC & 2mos of oral abx. Then 2 more rounds of abx. I have had NO symptoms since Aug'07!! Dr. Toth's lab uses a different method of detecting bacteria & longer/stronger abx trmt. He also holds the cultures longer to grow slower bacteria. For CT & Gonno it's best to use "Direct Immunoflourescent Antibody" testing method. Many of the other ones produce false negatives...we had many of those over the yrs.
Also, urine samples are worthless when ckg STDs. Your partner nds to be treated too...anytime u take abx for an STD, STI or UTI they should take the same abx, otherwise u end up passing it back & forth. Oral sex even transfers it....so if you hv many partners, always use condoms, wash hands bfr touching, and no oral sex...sorry. Many people were saying that they started having symtoms before they started having intex. Well I am sorry to tell u this, but STDs & STIs CAN BE TRANSMITTED TO YOU FROM YOUR PARENTS as well as your partners parents. I have personally met couples that have CT & were virgins when they got married.
Also, the testing methods for UTIs on me were very poor when I continued to hv problems & tests came back neg. Docs thought I was a leunatic when I continued to complain of urethral & ab pain. Some docs only did a "urine analysis". I always had to request tht they do a "urine culture", bcos sometimes bacteria would show up there on not on the UA. Docs won't treat if the bacteria is under a certain number as well, but the bacteria are still there. Many people are senstive to lower amounts of bacteria and tht was me, so we need to still get treated with abx. Get copies of all of your lab & test results!
If your urine culture comes back negative then step up to a higher rate of bacteria detection by doing a "broth culture" on your urine & semen at "United Medical Laboratores" in VA at www.unitedmedicallab.com. Just get a sterile container frm your doc's office then overngt it. Order form is on the website & hv your doc sign it. Remember your partner should always take the meds too.
Apple Cidar Vinegar 3 tbsp 3x/day is a great way to reduce the burning but does not remove the cause. You can dilute this with water or drink straight like a shot. Wow, what a pain reliever! This causes your urine to become more alkaline and less acidic. Try to eat foods tht are more alkaline...do a search on the internet for tht.
Ruth Kriz is a great specialist with Interstitial Cystitis tht I hv bn working with....burning, pain in bladder, urethra etc. She has some great personal stories of success online & filled with knowledge on healing & wht to test for. She does phone consults & will treat u long distance. She can also help with the STDs & STIs as well. She has been wonderful! I received a referral on a a Rx slip frm my PCP & my ins pays her in-network.

| Majestic, I found your post very interesting. I don't believe I have the ability to travel that far, so I was wondering if there was any other advice for me. I live in souther California. I had an encounter with an internet girl and had immediate burning in my penis. My STD tests were all negative. The bacteria idea is making a great deal of sense. Anything I could tell my doctor to help guide him towards my problem? |

dc87,
You could ask your PCP to order the tests to be done at MacLeod Lab & mb Dr. Toth could treat u remotely. Ask your doc to call DT & see if he can order the following tests to be done at his lab:
mycoplasma, Chlamydia Trachomatis, aerobes, anaerobes, yeast, Trichomonads. You can also do a phone consult with DT to see what he thinks & what othe options u have. The website is www.fertilitysolution.com for phone, email & address info. Good book online there too. DT will have to send your doc special kits for the tests. Even though your STD tests are neg they could still be pos. The bugs will go into dormant phases and also hide out in the body. Many testg methods produce false neg. I gave u Ruth Kriz contact info and she also does phone consults. Give her a call.

I have experienced the same symptoms as others have described, with the traditional "STD tests" yielding negative results, and the doctors interpreting those tests to mean that no STD is present. It is quite possible that there are bacteria or a strain thereof which the traditional Gonnorrea/Clamydia tests do not detect. Natural selection alone dictates that such a bacteria would be more likely to survive as it goes relatively undetected by modern tests, and then maybe spread by persons who are told they are "disease free" simply because Gonn/Clamyd tests show negative. I personally have had to acquire antibiotics designed to target these STD's by refusing the tests and demanding diagnosis on the symptoms - and I might note that the symptoms fully resolved afterward. What is necessary is a medical research and medical practice community no so blinded by hubris and the narrow STD pathologies to admit that there maybe something else out there, or that the tests may be failing.

| Nerve, that sounds exactly like my situation. After the burning comes I get a piercing urge to urinate frequently. This lasts about an hour like you say. I'm sitting here rocking back and forth in pain right now actually. Remembering to hold urination until after ejaculation seems to prevent it though. I just slipped up and got the steps reversed this time. |

I had a very similar problem very recently like just a few weeks ago. I had unprotected sex and a little less than a month later I started getting a burning sensation when I urinated and a little bit of a white/cloudly discharge in the mornings. I was also experiencing some tenderness and soreness around the testicles after sex or masturbation. Well all the symptoms started getting a little worse and started freaking me out.
I pretty much was convinced I had either Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. I went to a clinic to get tested for STD's. Week later, results came back negative. This was even worse! I was at that point freaking out more, because now I thought it could be anything, possibly something much worse than an STD. Well I went to my doctor, and he diagnosed after STD came back negative that I had an infection. It's called NGU. It's a bacterial infection. As far as I know, you can get it pretty easily from unprotected sex, but I would imagine that since it's a bacterial infection it is possible to get it other ways.
It's actually disturbingly common. After doing some research I realized how common this is. It produces the same symptoms as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, but the troubling part is that woman a lot of times don't get symptoms, or they confuse it with something else. So it goes untreated for a while. Lots of people have this! I think more people have to get educated on it. I think it should be taught about in sex-ed courses and etc. I am 26 and I was very ignorant on it. I didn't even know that existed. If not treated it can be lead to more dangerous things, especially in women.
In any case it is out there. Make sure you see a good doctor. It can be easily missed because doctors focus in on the STD's. It's very easily treatable, doctor prescribed antibiotics for about a week takes care of it. But honestly it's rather gross and not worth the trouble or worries of having an STD. Just use a condom. |

| I had most of the same problems listed in this blog. Turns out, Herpes. Negative STD results are from bacterial tests...Have them do a herpes antibody test and see if that's the cause of your symptoms. Unfortunately, it was the cause of mine |
