| Hi everyone, I am 19 years old... I just had my tonsils out May 18th... I am on day 4 boy is it hell... the dr. has me on percs and at first they were doing the trick but then they made me sick on day 2 so i cut back to just one pill every four hours... well i have had to go back to two pills every four hours... the pain is just unbearable... i had mono 2 years ago and this isn't even comparable... i've been living off freezies, icecream, boost, KD (believe it or not), jello and pudding... i tried eatting ravioli tonight but that was a big mistake... the sauce was too spicy or something and started to sting... i was told by drs. i would be healed in a week hopefully i will be better by May 26th... but I may have to take another week or so off work... i also have this phelm cough but i can't spit out the phelm because it's stuck behind the back of my tongue... anyway best of luck with everyone elses post-operation journies.... |

Hey im Sam. 17. Had my tonsils out on the 18th so that would make me on day 6? correct?
IM IN SO MUCH PAIN IT IS UNBEARABLE. ive been reading through this for a while now and noticed alot of people saying they're getting ear ache. For me its mor my haw aching more than anything...i can barely open my mouth and am sick of having to wake up crying every few hours because the pain is too much. Im able to sleep through it mostly but when i wake im in agony.
Im taking 500mg co-codamol, nurofen and anadin extra and nothing is touching me! Ive tried to cheat and take them early so that theyre in my system ready for when the pain kicks in but its not good, i cant go an hour without having to take some form of pain killer.
please someone tell me it starts to get better sometime soon? because i seriously am losing the will to live. *sobs* |

the scabs your referring too are the white bits at the back of your throat... you'll find that they dangle form the back of your mouth or you even spit bits up... i know i have and its not nice...
is it just me or does anyone else have the constant tast of like omlette in their mouth? or rotten egg? |

| Holy crap! This is day 3 for me. I have this feeling that I have hanging stitches or something on the bottom of my pallet. My uvula or what ever it's called is so swollen that it looks like a teaspoon. Now I see these white gaping holes where I thought I saw stitches. My pain is so intense that I can’t swallow my own saliva let alone water. I'm 44 years old and feel like I'm going to die. Just to add to this...I was a wise guy and had both my deviated septums done as well. OUCH!!!! |

| Well i posted on day 6, i am now on day 9 and WOW, what a remarkable difference. Yesterday i felt alot of my scabs working their way off, today most of them seem to be gone. It is not a nice feeling tho, and if you happen to catch it and swallow UGGGHHH not nice at all.. I actually ate a french bread pizza today that was great to finally be able to eat real food. I have not taken my perscription pain med at all today, i have only taken some motrin. I still have slight pain when i swallow, but no where near as intense as what it was a couple days ago. i have even upgraded to room temp. orange faygo soda. so things do get better. i even ventured out for the first time to the store today. I am hopeing to be able to eat at the memorial day barbaque, but i am not gonna push myself. i wish you all the best of luck, and hopefully this will make all of you feel better knowing things do get better. |

I had my tonsillectomy on May 4th. This forum scared the CRAP out of me. I literally went in thinking that this would be worse than anything else.
It ended up being the EASIEST thing. Of course there was pain but big deal. If I had a choice between the surgery and still having my tonsils it wouldn't take me more than half way through the question to say SURGERY!
Don't be scared if you're going in. The people who come on these forums are the ones with freak experiences. If you had a good experience why would you take the time to BITCH about it here? Good luck! |

I HAVE BEEN READING ALL OF YOUR POSTS AND I FIND THEM RATHER HELPFUL, BUT I HAVE NOW GONE INTO STRESS MODE BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER WILL HAVE THIS PROCEDURE ON THE 31ST AND SHE IS NINE. YOU ALL ARE ADULTS AND I KNOW IT WILL PROBABLY BE WORST FOR HER |

| Well I had my tonsillectomy on May 24th, so I am Day 4 I suppose. After reading everyone's responses I am fearful for Day 5. What does it feel like when these scabs come off? Also, what else have people been drinking? I am soooo sick of Vitamin water but it's really all I can handle. I also had a little bit of chicken broth. I am so hungry but I feel like it will be forever before I can eat again because the pain is excrutiating! |
