I have an implanted Pacemaker and I am having an annoying beat in my neck area, could this be a result of the pacemaker. I take Xanax for my nerves and that has not stopped it. I have had the Pacemaker for 10 years and 3 years ago had the battery changed. It is checked every 3 months. I don't know whether I should call them or just hope it goes away. This has been going on for about 7 hours now. I don't want to panic, but just want to know if this is common???

Common or not, you should have your cardiologist check it out. A malfunctioning pace maker is a serious as any heart attack. It is your lifeline and you want it to function perfectly.

Call your doctor.
