Pain While lying in bed

Sometimes when I am lying in bed, I get a sharp pain on the left side of my chest; closer to my sternum. It doesn't happen everynight, but only some nights. What could it be? Is it my sternum or my heart?

it could be a bit of heartburn (acid refluxing from the stomach) try sleeping with a couple of pillows to raise your self up a bit!
