Hi, I have problem when having sex, as I feel pain upon penetration. I started to believe it could be some infection or other disease. What is usually the reason?

Hi, I also had periods in which sexual intercourse was painful to me. It is not a rare complaint among women seeking gynecologic care. Medical term for painful sexual intercourse is dyspareunia and the cause can usually be identified and treated. It may take a few visits to gynecologist to determine the cause. Pain can be due to an allergy to semen, which is quite uncommon. After ejaculation there can be a sensation of burning and redness around the vagina and vulva. A vaginal infection, such as a yeast or herpes infection is most often seen. Herpes infection cause blisters which are very sensitive and painful to touch.
