Let us know how you go on it's more or less gone for me now.
I started going back to the gym and actually did some back exercises like some mild deadlifts and rowing and I'm still grinning.
I make sure I really stretch out my back using the above exercises before and after each work out as well as a good warm up and cool down. |

| I am glad I found this site b/c I have had the same problem for a week, and thought I was crazy. Mine also started after going to the gym. I ran (with boxers on which I normally don't do, I usually wear briefs when at the gym), and did some stretching of my hamstrings and hip flexors. I hadn't stretched the hip flexors in quite a while. It's not really a pain in my testicle, it's just sort of uncomfortable, but only when I sit. I had to go to the urologist the day before this started for a vasectomy consult, so he checked my testes and said everything was fine. I am thinking it's some sort of groin strain but it's driving me crazy. |

I've been struggling with the same pain for three weeks. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong either. Nor did they give me anything but antibiotics and pain killers. Your information gave me hope that something can be done to help ease the pain. I tried the exercises for the first time tonight and iced my lower back. I've already felt an improvement. I will keep up with the stretches and seek out a physio in my area. Just wanted to thank you for posting your experiences. I hope more people read this and find some relief from this agonizing pain and discomfort.
| Eric La Salle wrote: | I've had two physio sessions now and the pain has diminished but also moved at first it was in the lower left testicle now it's moved to the left of my left testicle and slightly above it into my lower abs I also feel like I'm busting for a whizz sometimes too.
On the session the physio doesn't go near my groin he just gives me a deep back massage and by deep I mean DEEP; he leans his 16 stone frame onto his elbow and drags it along my spinal column I can feel it going along every bit of my vertabrae. He also rubs deep heat in to my back. It's not pleasent but just endure it.
The physio guy told me it's like toothache pain you can't pinpoint precisely where it's coming from and that's what it's like, a toothache but in my testicle.
He told me if you have a pain like that on your body chances are it's a trapped nerve.
He showed me a diagram where certain nerves in your back come around your waiste and terminate in your groin and testicles.
I'm pretty sure it's my back because before I went to see the physio I did some lower back exercises which eased the pain a little.
Try doing these:
1. Get on all fours with your knees on the floor. Arch you back like a cat would do, hold it for ten seconds then drop your belly to the floor (so basically your arching and slumping your back) put a bit of pressure on it when you do.
3x
2. Curl up into a ball and hug your knees to you chest wrap your arms around them and pull them right in. Then arch your head fowards as far as you can.
3x
3. Bit hard to explain. Lie on your back flat on the floor, now bring your knees up and let them lie on the floor to one side at a 90 degree angle your body now keep your knees to the side and turn your upper body in the opposite direction and lean the other way (as though you where trying to twist in two) I find this hard to do so I grab onto something and pull myself the other way. If you haven't done this one before you may feel you spine crack a little (but that's always good news).
1X Either side 20-30 seconds each.
Also try putting an icepack or bag of frozen peas on your lower back and leave it there for twenty mins every two hours.
You'll know if it's your back cause after the stretches you should feel a difference. The pain doesnt go away completely but it does ease up a little.
Mine had gotten to the point where it was always sore even touching my nut made it ache, at first sitting down was painful and then walking too. Now I forget it's there until I fiddle with it to see if it still hurts (not in that way) which it does a bit.
After I did the stretches I felt an immediate relief from the pain and I could walk without discomfort again.
if this improves things you need to go to a sports Physio or at least a phsyio who understands the condition. The guy I spoke to instantly knew what it was and had cured someone else of it before. If the physio is scratching his head, find someone else.
I'm also booked in for a scan on the 26th of feb down there they're doing an ultrasound just to be safe.
I think it's getting better but I'll keep you updated when and if it goes.
I really wish other people could have put there own solutions on I'd hate for someone to have an unneccesary operation.
I think a lot of people get is sorted and forget to let the rest know. They forget there's some scared and depressed people out there suffering from this annoying thing.
Good luck all. |

Posted: 04/01/08 - 17:04 Post subject: VARICOCELES (varicose veins) in the scrotum |
|
|
I've gone through the same drill as those who have posted their symptoms. Ten years ago I thought I pulled my groin muscle and people & doctors told me a sore scrotum is typical because of the loss of bloodflow. This sporadic pain has come and gone and I always thought I aggravated the Pulled Groin Muscle through some particular motion or lifting heavy items.... Not so I find after having an ultrasound performed of “my boys”...........(read one)
One of the signs of varicoceles is an aching pain when the individual has been standing or sitting for an extended time and pressure builds up in the affected veins. Heavy lifting may make varicocele symptoms worse and, in some cases, can even cause varicoceles to form. Usually (but not always) painful varicoceles are prominent in size.
Diagnosis is fairly simple through either physical or diagnostic examination.
Typical on left side of scrotum
Visual physical exam - scrotum looks like a "bag of worms"
Testicle can shrink in size / atrophy
When varicoceles are not clearly present, the abnormal blood flow can often be detected with a noninvasive imaging exam called color flow ultrasound or through a venogram - an X-ray in which a special dye is injected into the veins to "highlight" blood vessel abnormalities
Treatment Option, a varicocele embolization versus varicocele surgery?
Unlike varicocele surgery, a embolization performed by a Interventional Radiologist (MD) requires no incision, stitches, or general anesthesia. Further, embolization patients almost never require overnight admission to the hospital. In addition, several studies have shown that embolization is just as effective as surgery. Studies have also shown that embolization patients return to full activities in a day or two, but varicocele surgery patients may need to avoid strenuous activity for several days or even weeks. Some complications of varicocele surgery, such as hydrocele (fluid around that testicle) and infection are virtually unheard of after embolization.
Should all varicoceles be repaired?
Not necessarily. If you have symptoms, such as pain, you may choose to have a varicocele repair procedure sooner. But an asymptomatic varicocele is a common condition that does not necessarily cause pain or infertility. A varicocele only needs to be fixed when it causes pain, shrinkage of a testicle, or when it is associated with male infertility.
TO NOTE: I am scheduled to have this procedure performed and HOPEFULLY I will be rid of this scourge once and for all, I like to run and it’s not a pretty sight......... |

Posted: 05/01/08 - 09:10 Post subject: Left Testicle pain: Trigger point works |
|
|
Hi Everyone,
I had this condition as well. I'm 45 male, 5-10, 155 lbs, exercise daily. The pain was in the left testicle. Felt like I was kicked there, if you know what I mean. It came on a week ago while cycling. Made walking difficult and sitting. No relief.
What worked for me is a therapy I have been using for about a year now called Trigger Point Therapy (developed by the former doctor for JFK). See http://www.triggerpointbook.com/. I have the book at this site and went to pages 155 and 203 and did the treatments as described. Basically finding the trigger point in the muscle that leads away from the testicle, in the upper thigh, about 2" away toward the hip I found the point: very painful when pressed, and radiated pain to the testicle. I simply massaged this point with deep pressure about 6 times a day. The pain was reduced within half a day and gone within 48 hours.
I highly recommend the book, which gives the theory and tips on how to do the massage correctly. You can go to Borders, find the book, and simply read the sections noted above, which are short, and you will get an idea of what to do. I have used this approach to other pains on my body such as shoulder and back pains as well, with very good relief.
In the end, however, you have to address the cause: the cause is a muscle that needs to be gently stretched more, and eventually strengthened by exercises for that muscle area. The trigger point will help with the pain, but the pain will come back if you do not treat the cause!
I am now doing my stretches in that area and developed some simple exercises for that muscle.
Nasty stuff.
All the best out there! |

I likewiase have been to the doctor and nothing shows up. |
well i have had the same problem for weeks now. i have been doing some running for the past few months but didn't have any problems until i doubled my running distance and started lifting some weights. as soon as my abs started building up i started getting pain in my left testicle. My doctor said that it was due to me working out too much and not srtreching enough. He told me to take a week off from going to the gym and prescribed Ibuprofen and told me stretch my stomach muscles. this helped a lot and the pain did go away but then i stopped taking the pills and stretched a little less and the now the pain is starting to come back.
So just try stretching a little more and don't take the pills before going to the doctor. I would recommend that you get it checked out as you might have some other problems, but if you don't feel comfortable going to the doctor, try streching for about a week or so. And if the problem does not go away you should see your doctor, you never can be too careful with these things. I mean these are your life giving stones (philosopher's stone), if you catch what i mean.. |

Hi all
I've been experiencing these pains for almost a week now
It's really odd one minute I can walk around and sit / lie down and im fine the next minute it feels really sore and sensitive!!!
I believe it was because me and my dad were lifting a cast iron radiator last week and I may have over done it!
Im going to book an appointment with the doctor me thinks....
I hope it heals soon! |

| My pain eventually went away. I think it was just a badly pulled muscle and it needed time to heal. At the time I didn't think it was just a pull b/c it lingered for so long. |
