My stomach hurts, near my bellybutton. Pains are mild. What could be wrong? I don`t drink alcohol. I eat junk food, not very often. Should I try pain medications or alternative therapy?

Hi. Pains in navel area are associated with minor intestine disorder. Maybe it is a sign of an inflammation of appendix. I had a food poisoning last summer, the cramps were awful. To relieve the pain you should avoid solid food. Eat only small amounts. Avoid spicy foods. Also, avoid citrus, greasy foods, tomato, and caffeine. If it doesn`t work, try H2 blockers, such as Tagamet, Pepcid, or Zantac. You should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and narcotic pain meds.
