About a week ago, I started having some slight burning while peeing. At first I thought it was just dehydration or irritation to masterbating, so I drank a lot of water hoping to flush out my system. The burning got worse and I immediatly went to go see the doctor. The doctor did a urinalysis and all results were normal. I went home and the pain got worse. The tip of my penis became inflamed and red, my urethra became swollen and inflamed as well. I went to go see my urologist and he perscribed Doxy while we were waiting on the lab results to determine if Clam or Ghon were present. The pain continued to get worse and the lymph glands below my stomach and above my right leg became tender and swollen. I went back to my general practitioner and he did a culture on what appeared to be a pimple on my foreskin. I am hoping and praying that it does not come back to be genital herpes. He put me on Valtrax to be on the safe side. I am concerned because none of the lab results show any signs of infection, yet my urethra is clearly infected. I've been on Doxy now for 5 days now and still the infection hasn't lightened up one bit. How long does it take for antibiotics to affect a urinary infection? If it is herpes, how long does Valtrax take to kick in? Are urinary infections common to herpes? Will Doxy work on any type of urinary infection even on something like Syphlis? I am starting to get concerned as I know urinary infections can spread and lead to kidney failure.

Its now been 6 days since my symptoms started and just today my testicles are starting to swell are tender and have a dull pain. Did my infection spread to them?? Why isn't the Doxy stopping it??
