I have one question that started to worry me lately. I am going to visit my doctor and I know he might notice if I am drug addicted. Off course, my parents would kill me to know such a thing. That is why I have a question about patient-doctor confidentiality. Is he going to tell something like this anyone, to my parents for example?

I have opinion you do not have to tell your doctor anything that you do not want to. Sometimes it is better to get someone else’s help and opinions other than your doctor. If you seriously think that you have an addiction, it might be helpful for you to look into narcotics anonymous meetings. You can meet people at these meetings that are in the same boat that you are in. I know this because I was addicted and I search there for help. It helped me so I hope you will find strength to quit, whatever did you addicted. In addition, I know there is a level of confidentiality that you and your doctor have. I think they are obligated to let your parents know if you are in serious danger of hurting yourself. If I were you, I would think about telling your parents about this problem, maybe they will be able to help you. Your doctor and your parents only wants you health and that is all they are going to do, keep you health and alive.
