Police issued a public alert for 31-year-old Mylvaganam Vaasuhan, a schizophrenic mental-health patient being detained indefinitely for sexually molesting two young Toronto girls and who had ran away his escorts at a Rogers Centre baseball game Tuesday night.

The patient, who is diagnosed with pedophile, is said to pose a threat to public, especially children, as he does not have hid medications with him.
Back in 2002, Mr. Vaasuhan was found not guilty of sexual assault on grounds of diminished mental capacity and has spent time at the Whitby centre ever since.

Mylvaganam Vaasuhan is an immigrant from Sri Lanka and has no status in Canada. His detention stems from an incident in May of 2002 when he accosted two girls, 8 and 5, at a Toronto playground, hugged and kissed them and asked them to visit “his dungeon”. He was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

As he was found no criminally responsible for his actions, he was placed in the sprawling Whitby centre in March, 2003. His prognosis did not appear good. He was unpredictable and displayed sexually aggressive behaviours such as grabbing a female staff's breast and groin area. He also masturbated openly in the presence of other patients almost every day until his medication started working.

Mr. Vaasuhan vanished while on a day trip to the Rogers Centre, where the Toronto Blue Jays were playing the Boston Red Sox. Thirteen patients were under the supervision of five staff.

His lawyer Anthony Balka reported meeting with Mr. Vaasuhan several hours before his escape describing him as “a little more frustrated than usual”. Mr. Vaasuhan has been complaining lately that he has been stuck in that hospital for so many years but his lawyer doesn’t think he is dangerous at present.

I'm just wondering why a person who had accosted two little girls just five years ago is able to go 'day trippin'? He was out on a day trip, how nice to see that criminals are well taken care of. Now, some other little girl(s) -or boys - could be in danger because of this very unfortunate event. And that really is a sad thing. And it could be avoided by keeping him locked up where he belongs - diminished mental capacity or not - he is a criminal and should be treated appropriately, without preferential treatment of any kind.

Wow I am so sorry to hear this.
It is terrible that he would be out n about at all. He should seriously be locked away for life.
People get off with too little penalty for abusing children, its sick. The law should be more strict and be these pedophiles should be held accountable for their actions to the highest degree.
The victims have to go their whole lives being tortured by their memories, and the perpetrators get off so easy..
Its just so unfair.
