Ibuprofen is one of widely used painkillers. Today’s “Daily Telegraph” reports about latest researches related to painkiller side effects. The researchers say that painkillers can significantly heighten the risk of having a heart attack.

They are also concerned about another group of drugs with name Cox2 inhibitors, mostly used to relieve the pain of arthritis, which also increase the risk of heart attacks and stroke.

For this study Nottingham University tested few thousand man and women and identified more than 9000 who suffered first heart attacks and used medications including Iboprofen, Diclofenac, Naproxen, Celebrex or Vioxx.

The highest risk is with Diclofenac (a prescription painkiller), which increased the risk by 55%.
