I am 18 hours into going without PercoSet. (5/325?). I started PercoSets some 4 years ago after cervical spine surgery and have been on a regular dose of 3 to 4 a day. I am tired of taking meds. I had cancer surgery last year and was also diagnosed with diabetes. I am confident that i can endure the withdrawals. I just need advice on what to expect and any OTC meds that will help minimize the discomfort.

Any advice on detoxing? Should I just stop or reduce my dose over time? I have unlimited acess. Which is both good and bad. My neuro surgeon feels I need them, I have a very high threshold for pain. I have been on them for so long I am begining to wonder if I need them or am addicted.

Any advice? Thx!

I've been on percocet, oxycodone, vicaprofin etc. on and off for about 4 years. I was able to stop for about 2 months here and there, but the pain of a hard job just left me crippled. It came down to quality of life vs. clean blood test.
I just got up to 8-30mg tabs of oxycodone per day. Now it's time to quit. I just kept taking less every day till i got down to 25 mg per day. The longest part is the last 25 mg's. I notice i get withdrawals every 6 hours or so. They are getting less intense and farther apart. when i get down to 10 mg's a day i'll just stop. Withdrawals will come in about 6 hours, but every time i've done it they didn't hurt as much as the drop from 60 to 25mgs. I'll be fine in about a month, just tired.
Hang in there
