Period begins with brown blood, like how it is during the end of your period. What's wrong?

I started my period, it was VERY light and has continued to remain light throughout this week. Also, the blood is brown, like when you are nearing the end. I'm not really cramping either. What could this be? It's around the time I should have started my period, though my periods are irregular.
