Periods While On Birth Control Pills

I have been taking birth control pills - the kind where you only have a period 4 times a year. I've been taking these kinds of pills for a little over 6 months. I had my last period in September and it was normal. Well, I started the "period pills" and I was supposed to come on my period the last week of December. Instead of having a regular period I only had spotting for the week that I was on the "period pills". Could I be pregnant? Is this normal?
