Peripheral Neuropathy-Cause-Nerve Compression-Endoscopic Discectomy?

My father has a lot back pain. This pain is not radiating from his back to his feet. He also has weakness in his left leg. He did a sagital MRI and his neurologist told him that he might need endoscopic discectomy. Doctor explained it like a peripheral neuropathy caused by nerve compression. Should he ask for other opinion?

Sorry to hear about your fathers problems. I had the same and also was advised for discectomy. My condition was suspect for peripheral neuropathy caused by compression as well. I talked to couple neurologists and neurosurgeons and final decision was not to perform surgery. In my case all went well with steroid injections. Maybe you should do the same, because the surgery is always final solution.
