On the 11th day of my cycle, my boyfriend and I had sex. The condom broke and about 1/2 the semen was probably left inside me. I immediately got the plan B pill, and took the 1st pill within 45 minutes (and the second pill about 11 hours later).

I was off birth control during that time, because I had mono and left my pills back at college. I had missed most of the first week of active pills (thus why we used a condom and why I got plan B).

I started a new pack of pills on the 15th day of my cycle, and on the 16th day (5 days post Plan B), I noticed some bleeding. It was dark red/brown, enough to stain my underwear and such. The next day was the same, and the following day was more like a period (dark red color, enough to soak around 2 "pads" of toilet paper and get all over my inner thighs). The following 2-3 days the bleeding trailed off.. going back to the brown color.

My periods are usually 5 days long, and I bled for 5 days, although it was quite a bit lighter. I have read in this forum that that is typical though. I had cramping starting 5 days post Plan B, for around a week. My breasts have also been tender from about 4 days after I took the plan B. They aren't exteremly tender or anything (I can barely feel it when I run). It is now the 23rd day of my cycle (although since I started a new birth control pack, this cycle will be 35 days instead of the usual 2Cool. I have been tired the past couple days, and my breasts are still somewhat tender (again... not enough to where I feel them walking / going up stairs, only barely when I run).

I guess my question is, is this normal? I know Plan B can have these effects (cramping, tenderness, fatigue), but even 12 days after taking the pill? If I had a "light period" after taking the pill (5-6 days of light bleeding/ staining), was that my actual period, thus am I most likely not pregnant? I was also wondering if plan B can have different effects on the same person different times. I had taken the pill once before, around 5 months ago, and didn't get the same effects. I know that starting a new pack of pills (4 days after Plan B) after being off of them could have also made my hormones even more screwy. I think most likely this is from the Plan B and that I am not pregnant, but it is really nice to hear it from people who know what they are talking about. Thanks for any advice, this forum has been super helpful.

Something similar happend to me... I had sex about a week ago, and 24 hrs later I took the pill... I only had nausea for 2 days... now it's been a week... and I stained my underwear with a coffee like color, & that was it!! But I have peed like 10 times yesterday even @ night... which is weird.. bc I usually pee about 3 times a day!!! Today, I got up with none painful diarrhea... I have a constant dull ache on my right side & i feel like some is tickling my inside!! I just would like to know if this mean that I might be pregnant?? I have never felt this way before.. and I almost a year ago took plan B... and never had anything like this happend!!!
Please someone that's been pregnant give me advice....
I will definitely go in about a week, to get blood draw to confirm I am not pregnant... but I just wanted insight from woman that might have experienced the same...Smile

I just took the Plan B pill for the first time. I went to our local sexual health clinic, and my nurse told me something you may find useful. Well if you don't already know this, I'll tell you because it makes it easier for me to explain. When your egg gets fertalized, you are not pregnant until 3 days after. This is because it takes three days for the egg to plant itself in the uteran wall. What the pill does is make that wall too rough for the egg to embed itself in. Now, what has happened on very, very rare occasions is that the egg will plant itself in the fallopean tube. This is why you may be experiancing abdominal pain, as I was told. You MUST go to the hospital, tell the doctor you took Plan B and explain what I've just told you, and they will help you. If you let this egg go long enough in the tube, it may lead to death. I don't mean to scare you, but just so you know this is what my nurse told me. I STRONGLY strongly strongly suggest you get this looked at.

Hope this helps!

ok last week on tuesday i ended ny regular period. then me and my boyfriend had sex but he didnt pull out. so i went to the store and bought plan b. i took it about 5hrs after having sex. then a couple of days later i had bleeding, it was like a dark red almost brownish. I am very tired, sore, getting headaches, and dizzy. But i also feel like there is something crawling in my abdomin. Today, after a week of taking plan b, had to go to the bathroom just a little bit more than normal. I have also gotten hungrier. I mean i will eat and when i finished eating wat i would normally eat, i will want more food. Can someone please tell me if this is normal after taking plan b, because i am really starting to worry.

thanks

I had the same side effects. I took the pill on a thursday and then by Sat/Sun I noticed my underwear stained with like brownish blood kind of mucousy. It looked like old blood. Then it became a light pink and then bright red one day and then it let up. Ive had too taken the pill before and do not recall having this happen. I've been getting all paranoid and thinking am I pregnant?! So yeah any advice or comments would be helpful.

The following are common side effects with the Plan-B emergency contraceptive kit:
If you are taking this medicine for emergency prevention of pregnancy, it is common to have nausea, headache, abdominal pain or cramping, breast tenderness and dizziness. You may vomit. If you throw-up within 1 hour of taking your dose, you will need to contact your health care professional for instructions. If any of the other side effects are severe or continue, contact your health care professional. After you finish your prescription, it is common for you to have changes in your next period, or to have spotting. If you do not get a period within 21 days of taking your prescription, you should see your health care professional and get a pregnancy test.

i had an odd color spotting incident and abdominal cramps. i was a bit freaked at first as well but i think this explains it all.

I'm a little concerned, and just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.

My boyfriend and I had sex a few days after my period, and the condom broke inside of me, so the next day we went out and got Plan B.. well, about a week later I got my period again!

I'm just wondering, is this normal?

A week after i had my period i had sex with a condom but it slipped off. i took the pill within a hour of having sex. And the next one 12 hours later. I was supposed to get my period the day after christmas. I am now 2 1/2 weeks late. I've taken several pregnancy test. All stating that I'm not pregnant. I'm just thinking maybe the pill messed me up. I had a little spotting 3 days after I took the pill. And nothing since then. should i be concerned or is this normal? I had most of the side affects listed from taking the pill. Should I go see a doctor?

Is that early period really a period?

i had sex with my boyfriend one night and got plan b the next morning. within a few days we had sex again and he felt larger if you catch my drift. the condom broke again (by the way if youre trying to get pregnant i recommend the trojan intense ribbed condom!) (got plan b next morning) and that night or the following morning i was bleeding a heavier, thicker, darker red blood than i normally get on my period and it wasnt time for aunt flos visit yet. it was as if my cherry had been popped again or something. it lasted for a couple days, not sure, maybe 5.

if its at all related, last night i woke up in the middle of the night and had to vomit. thought that was strange!

im a week late for the anticipated arival of my period but want to know if that heavy flow should be considered a period or not. i dont want to be pregnant, im only 19!
