All expected side effects of plan B- This is why this should be a last resort only and if you are sexually active you should have some sort of stable protection in place such as the pill ( but dont ever mix the two as i said before)
You can have your period again at theexpected, usual time, there is no way to say for sure if it will happen... depends on your body and how it reacts.

Hello - has anyone experienced any of the following after taking Plan B?
Numbness (legs, arms, face)
Migraines
Blurred vision
Severe nausea
I took Plan B and a few weeks later was experiencing these side effects so badly that I was sent to the emergency room twice - I never linked the two - the doctors thought I had a of meningitis the first visit and on the second said I had a type of migraine called Bickerstaff Syndrome. I'm not convinced. Now that I've done some research on Plan B, I think the symptoms might be related. Anyone else experience this? Thanks!

I took Plan B in December of 06 and experienced slight nasuea (didn't vomit), abdominal cramps and tenderness of the breasts. There was no spotting or abnormal bleeding. I wasn't on birth control at the time.

The first day of my period was either the 20th or 21st of June. I had unprotected sex (without being on birth control) June 27th around 2 or 3 in the morning and took Plan B at 2pm later that day and then again 12 hours later. I started my new pack of birth control (ortho tricyclen lo) June 29th at 9pm. I experienced none of the symptoms other than being a little irritable (like during a normal period) and a sore abdomen. I had "unprotected" sex twice during the first 7 days (i can't remember when exactly). I was taking my pill as usual but according to the Plan B site it says "During the first 7 days of restarting the pill, if you have sex, use an additional form of contraception". Since taking plan b, I've been experiencing a crampy / upset feeling tummy; as if I ate something that didn't agree with me. Yesterday (July 5) I experienced really bad cramps at work (I thought it may have been something I ate) but when I got home around 5 or 6pm I noticed a pinkish red discharge on my underwear. I put a tampon in and changed it around 9 or 10pm. It was only 1/4 covered (I use the super absorbent kind). Half in normal looking period blood (bright red and fresh looking) and then half in older period blood (the brownish looking kind toward the end of a period). I decided to use a pad instead since it was light and this morning it was spotted with dark brown looking streaks. When I went to the bathroom there was a maroonish colored blood on the toilet paper.

I've read the earlier posts and this seems to be normal. But did any of the girls above experience a normal or ectopic pregnancy? I'm curious to know since this didn't happen to me the first time I used Plan B (but I think the birth control pills may be affecting it differently)

We tell women to consider bleeding after PLAN B use a period.

You can use that info to time when your next period will come.

here's my situation:

on december, my cycle started on the 28th. unknowingly and unfortunately, my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex on january 14th, which was my fertility peak day. i took plan b 13 hours after coitus (and the 2nd pill 12 hours later). i started bleeding on january 28th so i'm assuming that was the start of my cycle.
it's been 11 days and i'm still bleeding - although considerably lighter than the first 4 days. i sometimes get abdominal cramps and headaches. i'm starting to get a little paranoid because such are signs of an ectopic pregnancy.

is the light/medium bleeding residual of my regular menstrual? please advise. thank you.

I am experiencing these same symptoms-well minus the cramps, but I get light headaches... I've been on my period for almost two weeks now and I don't know what it means. Never happened before-normal or on Plan B-and I'm a little worried. Any explanations? Thanks a bunch...

ok, well, my girlfriend and i had sex like, a day or two after her period, once that night. the next day, around 11ish AM we went and purchased plan B and she took it with water.. the next day we had unprotected sex again, and i pulled out. (we normally use a condom, but we got caught up in the moment) .. anyways, she had all of this spotting and stuff for a good while. but kinda has night sickness about a week after she took the pill. and it has lasted about 2weeks, pretty much only getting sick at night whenever she eats kinda' late from what i understand.. but shes told me some nights it doesnt happen.. i am really concerned.. any information or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Nausea is apparently a very common side effect. The Plan B pill is a huge dose of Progesterone, only progesterone. It is basically a dose of the Depo Provera shot. Just taking a progesterone pill/shot can cause nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, irritability, period changes (which include spotting, lighter period or can delay a period). My sister became nauseous when she took Plan B, but both times I took it I was fine.
I took it 2 days before my expected period 2 weeks ago yesterday and haven't had a period or spotting. I also became sick with a sinus infection last week. These things can change a period and how your body reacts. I take my Yasmin religiously everyday within 2 hours and my bf and I use spermicidal condoms, but I took the Plan B just a precaution. Yes, I'm neurotic, but it helps sometimes. If you take the pill and you don't get your period afterwards and you miss another, then see a doctor or take a test. I have taken tests and they're all negative. I'm not afraid that I'm pregnant, the condom only slipped slightly, not completely, so I'm probably not. I'm just being cautious. Girls, just wait until you're supposed to get your next period and breathe deeply.
Spotting from just progesterone can last for around 3 weeks. Yes, it happens. If your body isn't used to it, it will respond. Progesterone rids of your period, estrogen builds up the endometriel lining of your uterus. Just breathe, it's normal, unless you miss 2 periods. Then be worried. . . .[/u]

Well, my boyfriend and I didn't use a condom and he pulled out but just to be sure, we got Plan B. I took it as instructed and 5 days later I started bleeding the same brownish/reddish color as some of you described. I'm hoping this goes away. It's good to know that others have experienced this same thing... especially 5 days later too. I'm guessing it's normal. I'd rather not have sex again until we're married so I'm not always paranoid after every time we have sex anymore. Confused

PostPosted: 08/01/08 - 13:55    Post subject: Swollen breasts for ONE YEAR after taking Plan B -- take not Vote now! Reply with quote

i had to take plan B twice within 48 hours after a condom broke because my boyfriend and i misread the directions and the nurse practitioner at school didn't explain ANYTHING, she just scowled at us when we explained the condom broke and shoved over the pills.

anyway.

my breasts got HUGE the day after and remained that way for like a week, and i got that weird bleeding for a bit even though my period wasn't expected. and, for the next year, my breasts *tripled* in size (and i'm already a full C!!) every time i got my period, which must have been a direct result of the double dose of hormones. i felt like i had a milk cow strapped to my chest.

ladies, try to avoid having to take this pill. it's a great emergency option, but clearly it has lasting effects on your body, and it's a heck of a lot of hormones all at once. i'm sure they will discover frequent use of plan b has some kind of scary health effects.
