Please advice-long term effects on zyrtec

My son is 5 years old and has multiple seasonal allergies (tree pollen is the culprit) and has allergies to dust. He has been taking (on a daily basis) zyrtec for approximately 1 year. What (if any) are the long term effects of being on this medication for a child of this age?

Did you ever find out more info. about this? My daughter is a five-year-old asthmatic as well, and has chronic ear infections caused by fluid buildup due to allergies. We have been told several times she needs daily Zyrtec and have been reluctant to take the step. I'd sure appreciate knowing anything you've found out!
