Hey there,
If translated- pneumonia is inflammation of the lungs usually caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi or other organisms. There are 50 kinds of pneumoni. They are ranging form mild to life threatening.
Symptoms develop very sudden: chest pain, chills, fever, cough, shortness of breath. Mostly pneumonias are treated with antibiotics.
Yes, people do die because of pneumonia. Mostly older adults are in danger and people with chronic illnesses or impaired immune systems. Also, pneumonia is a leading cause of death in children, mostly younger than1 year.
It is known than yearly more than 60,000 Americans die of pneumonia.
