Possible unusual side affects of not finishing perscription

My husband was taking a 7 day treatment pack of predisone. He did not finish taking all of the medicine. Since this his throat has become red and raw like he has a sore throat and his tongue is twice as bad and has blisters. He can not eat because it is very painful. Could this be from the medicine?
