My husband is post operative hip replacement 3 days. The pain he is experiencicing is horrible. Ambulating is almoast impossible. He is still in the hospital and was supposed to be home today. He was recieving dilaudid from a PCA. That has been removed and is now getting dilaudid IM every three hours. Pain is like a burning knife at the incision site. Could this pain be nerve related? Has anyone experienced this? If so how long did this last? Rehab was not scheduled. The doctor has discharge planned in 3 days. 2 months ago he underwent arthroscopic surgery which was unsuccessful. The pain after surgery was nothing like this! I'm very surprised because his tolerance for pain is very high. Could this be from prior vicodin use inbetween surgery? Help....
