Sad It seems many people have the same problems. Surgery on 9/9 with pancreatitis also. recovery took about 3 weeks to just feel somewhat normal. here it is jan. and i still have constant bloating, i look 5 months pregnant by the end of the day. my gyn even gave me a preg. test! Ultrasounds showed nothing. I'm now waiting on a cat scan. The fullness goes up very high. I too worry about looking much larger than i have ever been! This is very discouraging, has anyone had this for months and then have it go away??? Is this going to last forever. I know about 15 people that had the surgery without any problems! Is anyone tried protoniX meds? any positive insight would be great! Thanks

had the surgery 4 days ago. I have the red line up the side. no fever, and only tenderness around the naval incision. I have a lot of bile (very green) being excreated. Is this normal during a movement? I mean I realize it has no where to go now, but does it (the body) eventually compensate for the gall bladder being gone?

Bloating feeling lasted for about six weeks. My stomach still looks bloated though, it gained weight in that area or something is different about about it. My clothes still do not fit the same. I went from a size 11/12 to 14/15. Other than that I have not had any problems.

I have also had mine out one year ago and gain a ton of weight and I also have had this right side abdominal pain since that that does not respond to steroid injections, massage or phyical therapy and I also cannot exercise. I use to have diarreha but that went away and if I eat the wrong foods I am bloated and can get very sick.

I had my gall bladder out last week on Tuesday so it's been about a week and a half. I was admitted on Monday morning of last week and had my gall bladder taken out Tuesday morning. I then came home on Wednesday. I thought I would be able to go back to work on Monday, but that wasn't the case! I was able to move around and slowly go back to my normal routine, but the fatigue and dizziness was what kept me home so long. I felt light headed all the time and experienced severe nausea after eating. It's now Friday the week after and I'm starting to feel better. I thought my recovery was slow too. But hang in there, and hopefully everything returns to normal soon. As for being bloated, I was only bloated till about 3 days later. Then after getting rid of the gas, I guess my stomach went back to normal. Keep your head up!

i had my gallbladder removed on march31, 08 and over a month later i am still having some pretty horrible pains and having to run and i do mean run to the bathroom no matter what i eat or dont eat, its no specific food! i was also told i would have a speedy recovery. wrong! i tell my husband often that i should not have had the surgery. and for the ones wonderin when the bloating will go away it will take atleast 2 weeks for it to start going away. i have alot of days were i just dont have any energy. so yeah it sucks and im hoping that i will hurry up and recover from the surgery. by the way i was told that the pain after the surgery was were scar tissue has to grow in the empty place were the gallbladder was and it will take me atleast 3 months to heal. so i hope this helps some of you guys wonderin WHEN!

The bloating is from the inflation of your stomach during the surgery itself. It can take up to or around a week for it to pass. It will pass, hang in there. Call your surgeon....that's what you paid him/her for!

I had my gallbladder removed on April 16, 2008. My recovery was uneventful, and a lot easier than I had anticipated.
However, a couple of weeks after the surgery, I noticed that my urine was dark yellow-orange, on a couple of occasions. Then, about a week ago, I started having "the pain" I would get during an attack, only much less severe. More of a discomfort. It's just below my ribs in the center of my stomach...almost in my chest, but not. It is a constant discomfort, though feels better, at times. Also, I have had the "pinching" pains a bit lower on my right side, and the right side of my back/shoulder.
I see my gastroenterologist on Tuesday. I am hoping he says that this is normal and will eventually subside. I am so nervous that it may be SOD, or that the pain will intensify to a full blown attack.
I am considering seeking alternative methods to aleviate these symptoms. Has anyone had any luck with a naturopath, or holistic medicine?
I am very thankful that, so far, it has not been as bad as the attacks were. But it somehow drains me, and I feel like I cannot enjoy the benefits of having the surgery while these symptoms persist.

I had my surgery 3 days ago. So far, I've been very lucky. I'm very sorry for those that haven't had an easier time.

I get so worried reading some of the stories of recovery so I thought I'd send mine (so far) because it has been very good and might ease the minds of some.

Today I walked over a mile (day 3 -including surgery day) and I drank a ton of water. I also have been taking huge deep breaths and try to cough every now and then. The exercises seem to help a lot. The day after surgery I walked a couple blocks and stopped when I had to. I did this 2 times to keep me moving and then crashed on the bed for a while to recover.

Today I feel the need to really cough but it hurts when I do. Don't know what that's all about.

I wish us all speedy recoveries.
