My husband has been suffering from foot pain for a while and recently he has been diagnosed with Posterior tibial tendonitis. I would like to know what Posterior tibial tendonitis is and what the treatment for Posterior tibial tendonitis is. Thank you in advance.
It is an uncommon problem of the foot. Most commonly, patients with Posterior tibial tendonitis complain of pain in the inside of the foot and ankle. Conservative treatment of Posterior tibial tendonitis consists of special inserts for the shoe, walking boots, or even a short leg cast and the goal of these treatments is to rest the posterior tibialis muscle and decrease the inflammation around the posterior tibial tendon. Other treatments for Posterior tibial tendonitis include anti-inflammatory medications and activity modification and the surgical treatment.
