As a girl I had elevated progesterone level that affected my cycles. I had very irregular periods and had to take bcp to improve it. They told me that pregnancy regulated progesterone levels in women that have that kind of problem. What are the progesterone levels in pregnancy? Higher or lower than in non-pregnants?
Progesterone level is much higher is pregnancy. It dramatically rises because its role is very important for safe and successful pregnancy. Normal values of progesterone are > 1 in first week after period and increases to 25-28 on the 28th day of menstrual cycle. In third trimester of pregnancy progesterone level is expected to be 55-200 ng/ml. I have also heard that hormonal imbalances use to disappear after first pregnancy.
