Pregnancy, back pain and swollen kidneys

My daughter is 18 weeks pregnant. About a week ago she started having severe back pain. When it did not subside the next day she went to the emergency room where they ran some tests and did an ultrasound of her kidneys. They said her kidneys were swollen and she probably had a stone and to drink lots of water and rest. They told her if she had any fever or vomiting to come back as this was a sign of an infection. They gave her a vicodin. It has been 4 days since then and she is still in extreme pain she says it hurts more when she is getting up or down but she cannot sit without pain and she can barely get her kids to school she has so much pain. The only way she gets any relief is one particular position laying down. One of her friends gave her another vicodin which she took because she hurts so much, this cannot be good for the baby and she hardly eats because of the pain also.
